A burst pipe can cause serious damage in minutes, so the first few moments matter. The single most important step is to turn off your water at the stopcock, usually found under the kitchen sink, in an airing cupboard or where the mains enters your home. Turning the water off stops the flow at the source and limits the damage while you wait for help.
Next, turn off your central heating and, if water is anywhere near electrical points, switch off the electricity at the consumer unit. Open the cold taps to drain the system and catch escaping water in buckets or bowls. Move furniture and valuables clear of the affected area.
Once the immediate situation is under control, call us. We offer a same day response, 24 hours a day, across Kent, London and Sussex. We will talk you through the likely cause and the price before any work begins, then leave you with a full photographic report of the repair.
